Darius, Esports Business Management student at the University of Salford

Story Video

Background

Darius studies Esports Business Management at the University of Salford. He chose Salford because it was the most local option and offered the practical experience he wanted to build on. He has already worked on a number of online Rainbow Six Siege tournaments, mainly around Europe.

Goal

The course covers the ins and outs of esports tournaments and the business behind organising them. Students work with professional broadcast equipment, including a vision mixer and audio desk, and learn how to commentate on a game and how a broadcast works from the inside.

Journey

Working with the broadcast kit gives Darius a real feel for being on stage at an event and for how he would organise things in a professional setting. He says the course has shown him he can develop the skills the industry needs, bringing him closer to employment.

Outcome

Darius wants to join a tournament organising company, work his way up and make a lasting impact on the esports scene. He recommends the course to anyone who wants to get into esports and understand how a broadcast works.
