Story Video

Background

Ewan has always been the tech-savvy one in his family. That interest came to a head during the COVID pandemic, when he networked his own house, and it was then that he decided he wanted a career change into technology. He is now a degree apprentice at Ada College in Manchester, studying the Level 6 Digital and Technology Solutions Professional programme.

Goal

The Digital and Technology Solutions Professional degree apprenticeship combines a full bachelor's degree with paid work. Ewan is on the software engineering pathway in his workplace, so his studies and his job build the same skills side by side. Ada places a strong emphasis on progression and gives apprentices the chance to meet industry professionals as well as other like-minded learners.

Journey

Ewan describes Ada as a comfortable place to study. In his role he currently works in Salesforce Commerce Cloud, which is heavily data-driven and gives him real-world exposure to AI technologies. He has found the programme comprehensive and helpful, and he is looking forward to the industry events The GMIoT runs for its students.

Outcome

Ewan can see himself working as a Salesforce developer in the future. By the end of his apprenticeship he will have a degree-level qualification and hands-on experience in an in-demand area of software development.
